What are the responsibilities and job description for the Powersport Technician position at Bay Cycle Sales Co, Inc?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform work outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealer and manufacturer/factory standards
- System diagnostics of any malfunction and perform repair
- Troubleshooting and testing
- Keep the shop area neat and clean
- Ensure that customer vehicles are repaired accurately and kept clean road test vehicles to ensure quality repair the 1st time
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Demonstrate skills to other technicians as required.
- Perform reconditioning and repair of all machine systems and components.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
- Participate in all training programs
- Uses dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Must have the ability to speak effectively
- Must be an energetic person with a passion for powersports
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, college/technical school experience preferred
- Must be able to obtain a Michigan Motorcycle Mechanic Certificate within 30 days after the hire date
- Must be able to perform complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning, following technical manual procedures
- Valid Driver's license required – Motorcycle endorsement preferred, or ability to obtain one within 3 months after hire date
- Good organizational skills
Required Experience:
- Mechanic/technician - 1 year minimum

Physical Requirements:
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
- Potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning material or
- other toxic materials commonly found in motor vehicle service departments,
- some of which may be considered health hazards
- Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles
- May be required to lift up to 75lbs
