About the Role:
The Business Analyst will play a critical role in evaluating, implementing, and optimizing credit union systems related to back-office departments like cards, finance, accounting etc. This position will serve as the primary liaison between the business units and the Technology Services department, ensuring that system capabilities are fully leveraged to enhance operational efficiency, maintain compliance, and mitigate risks. The Business Analyst will manage small technology projects, support system enhancements, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that business objectives are met in line with regulatory requirements.
Bay Federal is currently established for payroll services in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. We are seeking to hire a candidate within these geographical regions.
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
Full time exempt position, working 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assess back-office business processes to identify opportunities for optimization and implement effective solutions.
- Work closely with department leaders to understand their data requirements, offering technical expertise on data systems and analytics.
- Identify and compile a list of use cases where Robotic Process Automation (RPA) can enhance efficiency and performance.
- Lead projects to implement new tools or enhance existing ones, working closely with the project management office (PMO) to ensure timely delivery
- Perform rigorous testing of data models, reports, and analytical processes to ensure accuracy and alignment with stakeholder objectives
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new regulations in back office operations, fraud prevention, and compliance to propose innovative solutions
- Facilitate ad-hoc query requests from the credit card, fraud, risk, compliance, and other back office departments, providing data-driven insights
- Coordinate with vendors and third-party partners to support and maintain data systems and applications used by the assigned departments
- Serve as a subject matter expert in combining back-office system capabilities with core banking systems for optimum business solutions in the areas of credit cards, fraud prevention, and compliance
- Continuously assess the credit union's back-office systems to ensure maximum efficiency and streamlined process flows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a knowledge base for optimizing system usage and increasing the utility of available technology.
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on the integration of back-office system capabilities and business practices with core banking systems to deliver optimal business solutions.
- Manage small technology projects for assigned business units, including planning, execution, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes within established deadlines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with end users to define test scenarios, execute testing, and ensure quality assurance of systems and processes. Develop procedural documents outlining expected system performance.
- Facilitate ad-hoc query requests from business units, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of back-office systems, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements related to back office systems and processes are fully compliant with laws and regulations.
- Negotiate both technical and non-technical solutions with stakeholders to meet business needs while adhering to the technical architecture and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with business users, the Technology team, and cross-functional partners to design, develop, and implement new products or enhancements. Lead the development of solutions that support the credit union’s strategic initiatives.
- Act as a change agent, facilitating effective deployments and modifications to business practices. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop communication and training materials for system rollouts and enhancements.
- Coordinate with business unit managers on scheduled system updates, ensuring proper testing is conducted and updates are implemented efficiently.
- Lead UAT efforts, ensuring patches and version updates are properly tested and implemented across platforms within the credit union to maintain optimal system performance.
- Direct business unit vendors and partners, ensuring the effective distribution of support documentation and the ongoing maintenance of new and existing systems.
- Lead the development, configuration, and administration of platforms used by assigned business units, ensuring the integration with core systems is accurate and compliant. Streamline workflows for better efficiency and data integrity.
You’re Perfect For This Role If You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of experience in business analysis, preferably in a financial institution.
- Experience with back-office systems, especially in cards, risk, fraud, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of core banking systems and their integration with back-office processes.
- Experience managing technology projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
- Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) are a plus

Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer. For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $68,640 - $81,272 annually. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
