About the Role:
The Talent Acquisition (TA) Specialist is an HR professional who is primarily responsible for recruiting activities to ensure smooth and efficient hiring processes. The TA Specialist is responsible for sourcing, interviewing, screening, evaluating and extending employment offers to qualified applicants, facilitating new employee orientation, and maintaining employee personnel files. The TA Specialist will assist with pre and post onboarding tasks and maintaining accurate candidate information in the applicant tracking system (ATS) and other HR databases for all employees. They will ensure that highly sensitive employee data is confidentially maintained. This is a hybrid opportunity with training taking place onsite in Capitola.

Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm
What you’ll be doing:
- Promote and maintain a positive image of Bay Federal at all times to all personnel, members, volunteers, vendors and the community.
- Supports the recruitment process across the Talent Acquisition department in an organized and timely manner. This includes taking notes during the Intake Meetings and scheduling interviews. Keeps external job postings up to date on external sites, including but not limited to: Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Lookout Santa Cruz.
- Manages the recruiting process for open positions. Posts jobs externally and internally upon receipt of approved requisition. Uses independent judgment to pre-screen resumes and job applications in order to present viable candidates to the hiring manager. Schedules and leads interviews. Coordinates reference checks and criminal background check process.
- Acts as the Business Partner for Branch Operations and the Contact Center. Business Partner duties include but not limited to: Recruiting, onboarding, and retention.
- Prepares new employee onboarding tasks, including: scheduling new employee orientation, creating welcome boxes, and sending hiring managers the appropriate policies and forms. Inputs new employee information into HRIS system.
- Uses independent judgment and reasoning to use information provided on job applications and within the organization’s compensation guidelines to propose job offers to HR management for approval. Extends employment offers to candidates that will be culture additions to the organizations long-term goals.
- Maintains organizational recruiting strategies to attract the best qualified candidates. Establish active sourcing approach that evaluates recurring business trends and builds talent pipelines to meet recruiting needs. Sourcing approach may include the use of sources such as: direct recruiting, social networking, internet job postings, referrals, college recruiting, financial industry groups, external recruiting and hiring agencies.
- Completes 90-day engagement check-ins with newly hired employees. Continue follow up with new hires to ensure positive employee experience.
- Uses the Internal Transfer and Promotion Checklist for branch positions filled internally to ensure a smooth transition when positions are filled internally.
- Presents monthly new employee orientation.
- Researches and signs up for local career and job fairs at local locations and schools. Gathers equipment and current posting information for fairs and sets up a clean presentation at the recruiting table. Connects with candidates during the fair, sharing about Bay Federal and why it’s a best-in-class place to work.
- Following New Employee Orientation, uploads appropriate paperwork to Docuware and stores in the new employee’s Personnel, Payroll, and Confidential folders.
- Maintains and updates the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), manual employee records and HR intranet pages to ensure compliance, consistency, accuracy and confidentiality.
- Creates, maintains and distributes HRIS system reports as assigned including regularly scheduled and ad hoc system reports. Assists in completion of audits.
- Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation. Completes internal Separation Checklist tasks and notifies appropriate business partners.
- Other clerical duties will include filing, written correspondence, various word processing, spread sheet and filing jobs, answering telephone(s), internal member services, faxing and copying.
- Present process improvement recommendations to the Talent Acquisition Assistant Manager and the AVP, Human Resources in order to continually streamline HR processes for efficiency.
- Continually maintain a current knowledge of all state and federal employment laws. Independently use resources such as HR websites, HR newsletters, publications, etc. to stay abreast of current trends in HR and employment practices.
You’re Perfect For This Role If You Have:
- Associate degree in Business or Human Resources; or the equivalent experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ prior experience in HR plus 1 year experience in full cycle recruiting preferred.
- Knowledge of current HR law (both Federal and California state law) and the ability to research specific items within the law is required.
- HRIS experience on ADP or UKG Ready is a plus.

Bay Federal Credit Union is proud to offer a competitive, robust compensation and benefits package. Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer. For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.82 - $32.27 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
