Position: PGA Apprentice
Reports to: Director of Golf
FLSA designation: Non-Exempt
The purpose of the PGA Associate position is to provide personalized service in a warm, friendly atmosphere to all members and guests of the Bay Hill Club & Lodge. As a PGA Associate of the club, they will be trained in all areas of the golf operations, expected to work in these areas on a regular basis, and assist in training other employees in the outside areas of the golf operations. They will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the golf operations and will assist other employees to offer absolute member/guest satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
· Proficient in all aspects of the Outside Services Position.
· Proficient in all aspects of the Range Attendant Position.
· Proficient in all aspects of the Course Monitor Position.
· Proficient in all aspects of the Starter/Caddie Position.
· Trained in all aspects of the Retail Merchandise Position.
· Become certified in club repair and participate in the golf operations club repair service.
· Assist the professional staff in the training of all current and future employees as needed.
· Perform any other duties that may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Characteristics Required
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the graduation of high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform to the position standards. High school diploma and some college with communication emphasis preferred.
· A minimum of 6 months’ experience in golf operation at a private facility or resort is required.
· Ability to communicate with all levels. Provide guest service and follow instructions.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and proper record keeping methods.
· Ability to handle multiple projects and provide various reports on a timely basis.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Must understand and be able to perform all of the duties of Outside Services, Range Attendant, Starter/Caddie Master, and Course Monitor.
· Must be able to operate a golf cart, range picker and all washer.
Physical/Mental Requirements
· Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to ben, run or sprint short distances.
· Must be able to endure long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
· Must be able to withstand exposure to heat, cold and elements of nature.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $19.00 per hour
