Overview:
At Bay Line Construction decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan. This General Foreman position is responsible for managing assigned crew personnel to ensure their actions align with company goals during the execution phase at the field level. This position will be responsible for supervising field personnel.
General Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the completion of assigned tasks and jobs
- Responsible for the safety and quality on assigned jobs and tasks
- Supervise the work of all crew members.
- Maintain the proper care of company equipment and tools assigned to crew.
- Assume the responsibility for the crew.
- Employee in Charge on assigned jobsites. May be assigned as Employee in Charge when multiple crews are present on a jobsite as needed.
- Responsible for conducting Pre-job briefs for assigned crew and others onsite. Discussing all know job hazards, mitigation and plan to execute assigned job or tasks.
- Responsible for the application of safe working practices on the job in compliance with the Company’s safety rules and trains and develops safety awareness on the part of subordinates.
- Supervise, direct and monitor assigned workforce activities
- Analyze work packages to establish and coordinate project requirements with Bay Line Management to make appropriate contacts, hold-offs, arrange for tools and equipment etc. and works with customers, internal and external, to satisfy expectations; resolves customer issues and builds constructive relationships.
- Provide customer/client satisfaction by applying cost effective work practices to ensure job quality and reliability.
- Supervise, prioritize and schedule resources to effectively utilize and to meet customer/client requirements during normal operations and storm emergencies.
- Communicate safe work plans, company policies and expectations to subordinates.
- Lead, train, motivate, coach and counsel employees to meet the expectations of their positions.
- Coaching, counseling and correcting unsafe behaviors of assigned crew members.
- Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to assigned Lineman, Apprentices and Groundmen
- Responsible for advancement, transfer, conflict resolution, discipline and dismissal of assigned employees.
- Communicates performance evaluations and recommends the approval or denial of merit raises for subordinates
- Communicate/coordinate job progress with Bay Line Management for work scheduling
- Assure the timely completion of all administrative processes, such as, crew time sheets, & Time & Labor, Reports, etc.
- Resolve engineering design, field barriers and delays to meet schedule.
- Complete jobsite walk downs meetings with engineering, construction personnel and customers.
- Monitor project safety and perform weekly safety audits, verify job briefings and safety tailgates.
- Participate in required Project Meetings as needed
- Conduct or participate in incident/safety investigations.
- Participate in Safety Meetings
- Communicate Safety Alerts to assigned crew members.
- Communicate Company Policies and Information Rollouts to assigned crew members.
- Assist Safety and Compliance Manager with completion of Training Requirements for assigned crew members.
Direct Responsibilities in Work Flow Process:
- Complete crew timesheets to ensure proper charges for job/work orders, labor and equipment. Ensure charges and payroll are correct.
- Responsible for relaying information and changes from Operations to crew members to maximize efficiency across all groups.
- Receive work order/job packets from Operation Manager:
- Perform jobsite walkdown prior to execution and discuss with assigned crew.
- Identify and communicate Safety Concerns or Hazards to appropriate parties and act as liaison to mitigate the hazards.
- Coordinate Scheduling Job/Project with Foreman
- Provide daily/weekly updates on progress of construction as needed.
- Act as liaison between Project or Operations Manager and work groups required to execute project schedule, control project scope, manage dollars, and materials management.
- Report Change Order Requests and assist with Change Order Creation regarding schedule and scope associated with change orders.
- Perform QA/QC of work performed by assigned crews before leaving the jobsite.
- Participate in Project Progress Calls as needed
Qualifications
- 3 years Fiber Experience
- Experience with fiber blowing optic equipment highly preferred
- Experience with fiber pulling using air assist a plus
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced and quickly changing environment
- Ability to travel and work on call, evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations, energy control process, company policies, and work practices
- Experience with leadership and teamwork skills, communication skills both oral and written.
- A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- General understanding of relevant technology, such as tablets, email and excel.
Physical Qualifications
- The employee is required to sit; frequently climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl.
- This employee must frequently lift and/or maneuver up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or maneuver up to 75 pounds.
- Work is primarily performed outdoors so physical exposure to often extreme weather conditions, animals and insects and other outdoor hazards is unavoidable and required
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- Overtime will be paid according to our at either time and half or double time depending on the applicable scenario.
