What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman position at Bay Ltd.?
The Foreman is responsible for a combination of duties from competence, mentorship, and leadership. Promote the company safety program. Utilize the plan procedures for construction maintenance on basis of starting times and staffing requirements for each phase of projects as directed by Site Managers, Superintendents, General Foreman, and clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure that employees comply with and enforce all company Safety, health and environmental policies and procedures that apply to your work
- Communicating expectations to employees
- Ensure that employees are safety trained prior to performing the work assigned to them
- Communicate hazards or concerns to general foreman, superintendents, safety, and site management
- Conduct safety and health audits of your work area and correct them immediately
- Treat employees fairly and with respect
- Conduct and participate daily safety, toolbox, monthly and special meetings
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Foreman
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
