Bay Medical Management, LLC is a medical services organization (MSO) headquartered in Walnut Creek. The organization provides administrative and management services to Bay Imaging Consultants Medical Group (BIC) the premier radiology group in Northern California.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Clinical IT Manager, provides operational management of clinical imaging informatics platforms and directs staff work on the PACS Admin team. Responsible for systems data management and integrity of Radiology systems, including worklist management, data reconciliation, and monitoring the performance of server/network components pertaining to 24/7 Radiology operations. Maintain and document system workflow and standards per the company’s guidelines.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for planning, installing, testing, and operational supporting digital imaging (PACS), Worklist, Nuance Powerscribe, and other clinical applications systems. Including operating systems, networking, software, and system administration to support the radiology department.
- Participate in after-hour on-call rotation to provide technical support for our radiologists and staff.
- Provides guidance and support for IT Clinical Operations staff as needed.
- Uses knowledge of HL7 and DICOM standards in integrating, sharing, and retrieving electronic health information, especially regarding patient registration and reporting in a RIS/PACS environment.
- Write action plans for project implementation and long-term planning.
- Analyze and monitor system performance and make proactive recommendations for improving systems performance and stability.
- Collaborate with various departments within the company and at partner hospitals/outpatient facilities in the planning, installation, execution, maintenance, and support of PACS-related or PACS-impacted local projects.
- Accountable for implementing and administering policies and procedures related to the PACS systems goals and objectives.
- Accountable for establishing changes in workflow, communicating changes, and providing quality assurance checks to ensure standard practices are followed.
- Performs audits, gathers statistics, and prepares reports for management and for quality improvement processes for Radiology systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair PACS-related problems or issues upon request for areas of responsibility for potentially multiple facilities as defined by their scope of practice.
- Responsible for detailed quality data integrity and management for QA and local PACS reconciliations.
- Provide local system support, training for workflow processes, and implementation of software upgrades and peripheral installations per regional guidelines.
- Troubleshoot/configure the workstations used by the radiologists. Understand the hardware and network functions connecting to the corporate and hospital networks.
- Assist with troubleshooting problems with the radiologist’s workstations when issues arise.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- An associate degree or appropriate certification by the American Board of Imaging Informatics (CIIP) is highly desired.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in business, organizational development, informatics or technology related fields required.
- PACS Experience: Intelerad, Philips Intellispace, McKesson, Sectra, Visage, GE Centricity preferred.
- Certifications by PARCA (PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association) preferred.
OTHER SKILLS
- Familiar with Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and HL7 standards relating to systems operations.
- In-depth knowledge of HL7 standards in exchanging, integrating, sharing, and retrieving electronic health information, especially concerning patient registration, and reporting in a RIS/PACS environment.
- Demonstrated experience in computer and informational data systems required, preferably in a health care environment.
- Voice Recognition software and hardware experience preferred (Powerscribe)
- Strong positive, interpersonal working skills and proven motivational and leadership skills are required.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure or stressful situations without compromising the needed concentration for attention to detail.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in providing training implementation and troubleshooting of technical systems (software and hardware).
- RIS / PACS Experience
- Experience with Intelerad, Philips Intellispace, McKesson, Sectra, Visage, GE Centricity preferred.
