Job Overview
A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a unique healthcare provider specializing in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses that may occur to student-athletes during practice and/or competition.
Duties
- Promote safe and appropriate practice, competition, and treatment facilities.
- Coordinate/collaborate with HS and MS nurses and school district medical officer for concussions on concussion management and RTP.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive emergency action plan for all sports.
- Develop injury and illness prevention strategies.
- Provide for on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate treatment of injury and illness, with appropriate referrals.
- Be familiar with administering IMPACT (neurocognitive testing) along with working the programs.
- Oversee the implementation of the New York State Mandated Concussion Management
- "Return To Play" protocols for students diagnosed with a concussion.
- Facilitate rehabilitation of student-athletes injuries.
- Assist in establishing protocols regarding environmental conditions in terms of heat alerts and wind chill/cold temperature.
- Communicate with district school nurses, chief medical officer, and parents in regard to students and student-athlete injuries and return to play protocols for those who have sustained concussions.
- Properly stock and supply all medical kits for each high school and middle school interscholastic team, along with properly supervising the maintenance of AEDs.
- Responsible for the distribution of AEDs to coaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.
- New York State Certified Athletic Trainer License.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR/AED, and concussion management.
- Possess thorough knowledge of IMPACT (neurocognitive testing) Program.

Pay: $46.00 per hour
