The Per Diem Recovery Support Specialist position at Turning Point Recovery Support Center provides support and resources to individuals impacted by substance use. Our newest team member will create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can access resources, receive guidance and build recovery capital along their recovery journey. The Recovery Support Specialist values all pathways of recovery and emphasizes community, equity, empowerment, and safety as fundamentals of recovery. Additionally, the Recovery Support Specialist supports peers to attain their recovery goals.
What You Be Doing to Make a Difference in the Lives of Others...
• Greeting and welcoming individuals visiting the center
• Creating an atmosphere of safety, inclusivity, and unconditional positive regard
• Providing information about support programs, services, and resources available.
• Offering emotional support and encouragement utilizing evidence-based practices such as active
listening and motivational interviewing.
• Communicate updates to staff
• Assisting with paperwork, record-keeping, and data entry.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the center.
• Adhering to ethical guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.
• Open and Close the center as scheduled
• As a per diem support staff member, your schedule may vary based on the center's needs, and you may work on an as-needed basis.
• Answer phones, respond to inquiries, taking messages, and directing calls to appropriate staff.
• Driving is required
Schedule: Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS
• Lived experience with sustained recovery for at least two years.
• Completion of 5 Day recovery coach academy is preferred
• Recovery Coach certification or working towards certification is preferred.
• Respects and advocates for all paths of recovery
• Ability to develop trusting relationships with all staff, peers, and stakeholders
• Strong Communication Skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere as part of team
• Must have fluent computer skills. Demonstrable ability to create documents using Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with zoom and social media preferred
• Ability to utilize, learn, and adapt to digital resources (Canva, Sign Up Genius, Calendly)
• Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to excel at details.
• Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong ties to geographic community
• Knowledge of the resources and providers in the surrounding area
