Summary:
Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse. Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to Ensure safety and well-being. Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients. Assists with physical care under the direction of a RN. Promotes coordination of the unit by Completing orders, making phone calls and directing calls and information to the charge nurse.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Certification: Basic Life Support from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
Minimum Qualifications: You may qualify for the position through one of the following ways:
- 6 months acute care experience as a patient caregiver
- 1-year Skilled Nursing Facility experience as a patient caregiver
- Completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an RN or LPN program
- Completion of a Baycare approved Nurse Assistant/PCT program-if the program did not include hands-on patient care experience outside of a lab setting, must attend the three-day Baycare PCT Boot Camp in Clearwater
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; may also qualify with a Certificate of Completion. Preferred: Associates in psychology.
