Mining Coordinator (Soda Springs, Idaho)
As a Mining Coordinator at our Soda Springs, ID location, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective recovery of ore from the pit to the stockpile. You are responsible for controlling the quality of ore fed through our system, managing day-to-day mining operations, and maximizing ore recovery. Your leadership and expertise are vital in overseeing all operations within active mining areas, identifying ore and overburden zones, and developing detailed mining plans. You ensure safe operations by quickly identifying and mitigating safety issues, track operational progress through pit surveys, and have the authority to start and stop work within active mining areas.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all operations in active mining areas, identifying ore and overburden zones;
- Develop detailed weekly and daily mine plans using traditional ore identification and sampling procedures;
- Direct all facets of mining ore and overburden within the pit, determining the most efficient extraction and placement methods;
- Maintain safe operations by identifying and mitigating safety issues to ensure personnel safety;
- Update the pit map with current pit surveys to track operational progress;
- Exercise start and stop work authority within active mining areas;
- Work with equipment operators to identify and clean ore, collect and transport trench samples to the plant lab;
- Provide oversight and direction to mining contractors to ensure adherence to daily, weekly, monthly, and annual mining plans;
- Perform pit surveying to ensure mine design is met and update maps to reflect current pit topography.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of professional experience in the mining industry;
- Ability to perform tasks safely and identify and mitigate safety issues;
- Ability to work with equipment operators for ore identification and cleaning, and sample collection and transport;
- Experience in providing oversight and direction to mining contractors to adhere to mine plans;
- Proficiency in performing pit surveying to ensure mine design is met and updating maps for current pit topography.
