What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant-Car Washer position at Bayfield County?
To provide general cleaning services of the Bayfield County Vehicle Fleet. The position will work up to 12 hours per week. Schedule and hours are flexible. Work is best completed in the evening or on weekends.Perform general fleet cleaning and maintenance duties such as:
B. Valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements:
A. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
B. Ability to walk, bend, squat for extended periods of time while performing position related tasks such as washing and vacuuming.
C. Vision required to determine areas that need cleaning, see dirt, see results of cleaning.
D. Hearing to safely perform the duties of the position.
E. Ability to read and interpret directions and labels on signage, memos, cleaning equipment and supplies
- Cleaning:
- Wash Exterior of Vehicles, including the windows.
- Vacuum interior of vehicles.
- Wash the interior windows.
- Clean and apply protectant to dashboard area, center consol, doors, steering wheel, etc.
- Maintenance
- Replace or report missing vehicle safety items as noted on the checklist.
- Check and fill the windshield washer fluid.
- Check tire pressure.
- Check the oil level.
- Report any damage or wear to vehicles, dents, scratches, tires, wiper blades, etc.

- Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in general cleaning of passenger vehicles.
- Availability to work evening shifts and or weekends.
- Ability to work cooperatively with Maintenance and Courthouse staff.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment operating instructions, memos and material safety data sheets related to cleaning supplies.
- Ability to determine and maintain appropriate inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Self-starting individual.
- Responsibility to report noted vehicle defects and/or missing safety equipment in vehicles.
- Ability to document vehicles inspection/cleaning checklist.
