What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Invasive Species Intern position at Bayfield County?
June through August. Part-time on weekends. Saturdays and Sundays, 10 hours each day.
- Inspect watercraft for invasive species.
- Engage and educate visitors at boat launches.
- Perform watercraft decontamination with a hot water pressure washer.
- Drive a county vehicle to sites, towing and operating a power-washer that is mounted on a trailer.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Successful candidates must be independently motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, flexible, and have good interpersonal communication.
- Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds and work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Valid driver’s license required; reliable, insured vehicle preferred. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
- Experience in identifying aquatic invasive species, and familiarity with invasive species concepts (preferred).
- Experience driving a truck and towing, attaching, and backing up a trailer (preferred).
