Shift: Evening/ Night
SALARY RANGE: 17.31 - 25.01HOURLY
General Summary:
The Clinical Assistant collects accurate demographics and financial information critical to the access of the hospital’s reimbursements, while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements including, but not limited to CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA and EMTALA were obtained. Scan all needed documents into EPIC as needed. Prepares, complies, and maintains patient and operational records in the nursing unit. Performs general secretarial and clerical duties. Coordinates clerical duties of a diverse and confidential nature to maintain efficiency of patient care areas. Admit patients as ordered by physician and follow unit procedure. Admit and Log Deliveries, and place all Outpatients in the EMTALA Log. Prepare charts for all Inpatients and expected Inpatients. Place RhoGAMS in the schedule books. Answer phones and process as needed. Keep track and coordinate with the Charge nurse about all patients and nurse assignments. Operate the Baby Security system. May also assist the supervisor with reports and other designated projects or assignments. Always greet patients and visitors with a smile.
Responsibilities:
1. Receive report and give report for the Birthing Center and OBED at the beginning and end of each shift.
2. Track all RN/LPN assignments and assigned ASCOM, and facilitate phone transfer and visitor flow.
3. Timely and precise completion of each registration, following all department processes and procedures. Must verify that all demographic and insurance information is up-to-date and correct. Obtain current copies of insurance cards.
4. Ensure all diagnosis codes are entered correctly.
5. Perform point of service collections. Responsible for meeting established monthly collection goals. Accurately follow balancing procedures.
6. Patient flow (as applicable) - maintain efficient patient flow in the registration and check in process. Accurately complete reception duties in accordance with policies.
7. Scan in all needed documents (i.e. Identification, insurance card(s), consents)
8. Schedule RhoGAM appointments with Doctor Offices by placing them in out outpatient schedule book.
9. Plans and executes a daily routine for the nursing unit (i.e. maintain floor stock, providing census/acuity data, etc.)
10. Monitor temperature and humidity alarms in the OR and record and report to Plant Operations and out of range readings.
11. Proficient use of SPM computer system
12. File reports on the patients’ charts and maintains the patients’ charts each shift.
13. Operates the hospital paging system and fax machine according to hospital policies
14. Admit, Suspend, Discharge babies in the hospital Baby Security system, and react per policy to any and all alarms.
15. Admit any patient as ordered by the physician to Inpatient or Observation, then follow unit procedures.
16. Prepare patient charts for any patient being transported.
17. Prepare charts for all expected Inductions and C-sections.
18. Post Charges to Patient Account as provided on the appropriate charge sheet.
19. Transfer patients around on the unit as needed.
20. Call other facilities to obtain records on our unregistered patients.
21. Break down all discharged patient charts.
22. All other duties assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Credential(s): Basic Life Support BLS
- Experience: Required: At least one year of medical registration experience required and extensive customer service experience.
Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: College degree
- Credential(s): Certified Nursing Assistant
- Experience: Previous experience as a Clinical Administrative Assistant
