General Summary:
The Electrician supports and is responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, loading new/existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, associates fixtures, controls, and equipment. The Electrician will maintain emergency generators: and if needed make emergency repairs on elevators, lighting, distribution systems and performs preventive maintenance as assigned on all types of electrical related equipment.
Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain all primary and secondary electrical distribution systems up to 13,000 volts; replace faulty switches, sockets, fuses, and insulators. 2. Arrange and install electrical devices in ways that insure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment. 3. Troubleshoot and maintain control circuitry, variable frequency drives and all other special electrical systems. 4. Operate generators, switchgear, automatic transfer switch (ATS), and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. 5. Install, maintain, and repair any of a variety of minimal to complex electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motor starters, heating units, boilers, pumps, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. 6. ) Repair, install, troubleshoot, and test hospital, hospital out-buildings emergency generators, automatic transfer switch (ATS). Keep all logs up to date associated with generators. 7. Troubleshoot, repair, and install various electrical systems throughout the hospital and their outlying buildings such as critical circuits, emergency lighting circuits, emergency equipment circuits, normal power circuits, power distribution and specialized commercial and laboratory equipment. 8. Schedule and assist contractors during utility shot downs and outages. 9. Fabricates, installs and modifies electrical system during renovation and construction of facilities. 10. Install, repair, and troubleshoot building fire alarm system as per NFPA standards. 11. Monitor and repair/operate campus pneumatic tube system (Swisslog/Translogic). 12. 1 Work from blueprints, schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, keeps As-builds up to date and legible. 13. Properly use and operate electrical equipment such as volt meter, recorder/analyzer, pipe benders manual/hydraulic and other associated equipment. 14. Track and order materials. Record/submit personal work orders; keep all State, JC and DNREC equipment logs up to date. 15. Provide emergency measures or maintenance as needed to protect property and keep essential services in operation for this medical center. 16. Communicate and treat customers (their representatives, visitors, and all hospital staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. 17. Research issues and provide cost-effective method of repair and alteration. 18. Responsible for setting up appropriate levels of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level, maintaining the integrity of that containment, and performing all work following infection control procedures. 19. Perform quarterly, biannually, and annually PM task on equipment 600 volts or less. 20. Maintain safe exterior walking surfaces by assisting with snow removal. 21. All other dues as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities to include snow/ice removal.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED ; ;
- Credential(s): Driver License Driving Record Required. ;
- Experience: Required: Currently enrolled in a State of Delaware approved electrical apprentice program or the ability to enter an approved State of Delaware apprenticeship program. Preferred: Minimum of two years electrical journeyman training and related work experience.
