About the Unit
The 5A Acuity Adaptable unit at Bayhealth Sussex Campus Hospital is a dynamic and supportive work environment, offering a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:6 and private rooms with lifts. Our team is committed to coaching and growth, with a 10-12 week orientation period and opportunities for professional development.
We specialize in caring for patients requiring complex care, including orthopedic surgical patients, post-trauma patients, reconstructive/plastic surgical patients, and total joints. Our team works collaboratively with Nursing Assistants to deliver high-quality patient care, focusing on empathy and compassion in all interactions.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient care in the acute care setting
- Developing and implementing individualized patient-centered plans of care
- Conducting thorough assessments to inform treatment decisions
- Counseling and educating patients and their caregivers on treatment plans
- Administering medications safely and effectively
Requirements for success in this role include:
- A Nursing Diploma from an accredited program or university
- Registration as a Registered Nurse
- BLS certification
- ACLS/PALS certification may be required per manager's direction
- A commitment to seeking specialty certification within a specified timeframe
- Experience in relevant specialties preferred
