Sterile Processing Technician

Job : Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)
Facility: Cherokee Nation W. W. Hastings Hospital
Location: 100 Bliss Ave, Tahlequah, OK 74464
Pay Rate: $35/hr
Start Date: 10/28/2024
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (NO overtime, subject to change based on unit needs)
• Call Requirements: 6 days/month, 1 weekend/month

Facility Information:

• 4 inpatient operating rooms
• 5 outpatient operating rooms
• 2 outpatient endoscopy rooms

Certifications Required:

• Certified Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) for a minimum of 1 year

• Certification through CBSPD or CRCST/HSPA

• BLS certification (AHA required)

Preferred Certifications:

• CER (HSPA), CIS (HSPA), or CSIS (CBSPD)

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver clean, sterilized instruments and equipment for surgeries, medical carts, and clinical procedures

• Sterilize, wrap, and organize medical equipment and surgical instruments into trays for use during procedures

• Lay out surgical gloves and gowns before each procedure

• Collect and manually clean used and contaminated medical equipment, supplies, and instruments for sorting and decontamination

• Prepare and pack decontaminated tools for sterilization

• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment

• Inspect supplies for cleanliness and report any issues with equipment to surgeons or supervisors

• Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, sterilized items, and inventory

• Reorder medical and surgical supplies, monitor inventory, and check expiration dates

• Properly dispose of medical waste

Required Skills:

• Decontamination Experience: Manual, mechanical, and high-level disinfection using facility-specific equipment

• Assembly Experience: Competent in care, handling, and assembly of medical devices, equipment, and instruments

• General Instrumentation: Experience with laparoscopic instruments and flexible endoscopes

• Sterilization Experience: Knowledge of steam and low-temperature sterilization, and experience with facility-specific equipment

• Dental Tray Assembly Experience

Equipment Used:

• Arthrex, Steris, Olympus equipment

• Required uniform: Royal blue scrubs

Additional Information:

• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application

• Pediatric experience preferred
