Bayless Elementary School is seeking a Part-Time Reading Instructional Aide for the 24-25 School Year.
Reports to: Building Principal
I. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Reading Interventionist will work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to support students who require additional assistance in developing their reading skills. This position is crucial in ensuring that all students receive targeted interventions to enhance their literacy needs.
II. QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of reading intervention strategies and evidence-based practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze data and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
III. FUNCTIONS
1. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct initial assessments to identify students in need of reading intervention.
- Administer standardized tests and use informal assessments to gauge students' reading levels and areas of improvement.
- Analyze assessment data to create personalized intervention plans for each student
2. Intervention Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement targeted reading intervention strategies based on individual student needs.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional methods and materials to improve reading comprehension, fluency, and phonemic awareness.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments and adjust intervention plans as necessary.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and guardians to provide updates on student progress and recommend strategies for support at home.
4. Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current research and best practices in reading intervention.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance intervention strategies and instructional techniques.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress monitoring data, and intervention plans.
- Prepare reports on student progress and outcomes for school administrators and parents as required.
VI. PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time ten (10) months
25 hours per week
