JOB TITLE: Fitness Center Specialist 1
FACILITY: Bayley Fitness Club
DEPARTMENT: Wellness Center
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a primary contact for members and member programs, services, inquiries and suggestions. Provide timely and fair resolution to issues when possible; direct to the Fitness Center Director when necessary.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the club software and the registration/onboarding processes.
- Opportunities to provide group fitness instruction; support and training provided on site.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of member incentive programs.
- Coordinate maintenance of all equipment and cleaning as needed.
- Monitor exercise equipment and pool activity. Must be alert and able to exercise sound judgment/discretion when addressing member conduct or observed unsafe practices.
- Provide instruction for the safe and proper usage of equipment.
- Monitor and educate members on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for individual and group exercise.
- Keep current with all emergency procedures. Report every accident/incident as required by policy or law and complete all necessary reports i.e., Injury/Accident/Incident Report.
- Monitor the fitness center for safety at all times and perform periodic safety checks; report safety concerns to the Fitness Center Director immediately.
- Obtain and record the pool chemical readings daily, or as directed.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pool deck, locker rooms, downstairs fitness floor, and the fitness classrooms. Report discrepancies to Environmental Services.
EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Two-year degree or equivalent experience in fitness, physical education or related field required.
- CPR certification required/training offered on-site.
- Group Exercise certification recommended/on the job training opportunities available.
- Personal Training Instructor certification preferred/certification and training opportunities available after 6 months of employment.
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules and regulations, and first aid, preferred.
