What We Are Looking For
The Initial Assessment Counselor supports the University mission by providing both direct and indirect mental health related services to Baylor students and BUCC trainees. This position also supports the functioning of BUCC as a whole, and thereby the service of the department to the wider university. Through service directly to students and by fostering the functioning of BUCC, this position fosters mental health and wholeness for BU students.
A Master’s level clinician with full licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC) and up to one year of relevant work experience is required.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Ensure students have access to care providing Initial appointments and Crisis intervention
- Support Care Team in assessing students in crisis
- Provide individual, couples and group therapy, crisis intervention, consultation, and appropriate referrals as needed
- Supervise mental health trainees and/or offer trainings and workshops
- Ensuring that all clients in crisis are offered an appointment in 48 hours
- Collaborate with Title IX to ensure continuum of care for clients in crisis
- Maintain adequate counseling records and files, including for supervision provided
- Provide prevention and educational outreach programs for student and staff
- Create trainings and educational materials for trainees, staff, and students
- Participate in staff meetings and gatherings
- Serve on committees, work teams, and task forces as needed
- Participate on committees in the Division of Student Life
- Participate in staff wide trainings and case consultations
- Pursue professional development to develop expertise in areas useful to work with Baylor students
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
