What We Are Looking For
Baylor University’s Office of Spiritual Life is seeking a full-time Chapel Coordinator who supports the mission of Baylor University by providing effective leadership of our Baylor Chapel model as a part of the Chapel Department team. We are seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic individual who enjoys problem-solving, working on high-performance teams, and ministry to college students.
Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some evening and weekend hours based on schedule of chapel services and personnel needs.
- Be successful in engaging a complex system for thousands of students as the department seeks to provide quality chapel experiences and meaningful spiritual formation in areas of vocation, the arts, and worship for Baylor students.
- Have familiarity with Excel, Word, PDFs, and general efficiency/organizational systems. Will need to be detail-oriented and highly organized. Able to successfully navigate large amounts of data using creative tools and processes.
- A familiarity with Christian Higher education, emerging adulthood, and campus ministry broadly is preferred.
A Master’s degree in relevant studies and one year of relevant experience are required. A Master’s degree from an accredited seminary, three or more years of relevant experience, are preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- In partnership with the Chapel Department Team, execute strategic quality control measures for the success of chapels, collaborate on strategies for quality control, oversee support structures for the chapel model and assist in stabilizing those structures
- Event planning and coordination of artists, guest speakers, and events that support the primary objectives of chapel
- Supervision of student workers working for chapel (graduate and undergraduate)
- If applicable, possible opportunities for preaching, chapel leadership, worship leadership, or pastoral care
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance to assigned services and team meetings
