What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Manager position at Baylor Genetics?
SUMMARY:
The Facility Maintenance Manager will need to be a highly skilled and experienced Handyman that will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the operations of our laboratory facility. This includes performing various repair and maintenance tasks to ensure the facility is safe, functional, and well-maintained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage work order system for the facility
- Plan and oversee repairs, including ordering materials and managing installations.
- Perform minor electrical repairs (e.g., outlet, ballast, light fixture replacements).
- Performs and properly documents lab device grounding system testing in compliance to CAP and CLIA guidelines.
- Complete assigned painting projects, including paint selection, wall prep, prime, paint and clean up.
- Perform general carpentry work such as cabinet repairs, door installations, and drywall patching, lock set repair, countertop laminate repairs, hardware installment
- Organize office and lab moves, including furniture and equipment.
- Assist with the management of remodeling/renovation and facility improvement projects.
- Coordinate with TMC or BCM maintenance team and external vendors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
- Continuously identify and address safety hazards in the facility.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- Certificate from an approved apprenticeship program or trade school preferred.
- Experience:
- Required: At least 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or as a journeyman.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills, including email communication and documentation
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
- Experience with preventative maintenance and using hand/power tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Standing/Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Climbing: Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Manual Dexterity: Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel tools, equipment, and controls.
- Bending/Kneeling: Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
