What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Manager position at Baylor Genetics?
SUMMARY:
The Facility Maintenance Manager will be a highly skilled and experienced technician that will perform and oversee the maintenance and operations of our laboratory facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage workorder system for the facility
- Organize, plan, and layout repairs including the ordering, pickup, and installation of materials.
- Minor electrical repair - outlet replacement, ballast replacement, light switch replacement, and light fixture installation.
- Performs and properly documents lab device grounding system testing in compliance to CAP and CLIA guidelines.
- Complete assigned painting projects, including paint selection, procurement, wall prep, prime, paint and clean up.
- Performs general carpentry work to include replacing cabinets, counter tops, cabinet door adjustments, and countertop laminate repairs, door and hardware installment, lock set repair and installation, drywall repair, and ceiling tile replacement.
- Organize and perform office and lab moves for the facility, including movement of equipment and office furniture.
- Completion of preventative maintenance and other recurring work order tasks.
- Assist with the management of remodeling/renovation and facility improvement projects.
- Coordinate with TMC or BCM maintence team and external vendors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
- Assists with the development and implementation of emergency response plans for facility-related incidents, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
- Continuously look for conditions which may endanger staff and to take action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Required: Certificate High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.
- Certificate from an approved electrical apprenticeship program or trade school preferred.
- Experience:
- Required: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a fully qualified journeyman electrician or facility manager.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and property systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and techniques.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Standing/Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Climbing: Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Manual Dexterity: Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel tools, equipment, and controls.
- Bending/Kneeling: Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
