Evaluates specimens for acceptability, liaison for triage with the client services team, supports accessioning team with accessioning responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluates triage cases and communicates with the client services team to resolve triage
- Regularly follows up on pending triage and on hold samples to maintain quick turn around and reduce backlog of on hold samples
- Active participation in triage process improvements
- Opens packages, accessions specimens accurately and according to existing protocols, as needed
- Scans, checks and files paperwork
- Performs routine and non-routine tasks to carry out the department workflow
- Ensures that the lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
- Participates in the orientation and training of the department
- Performs clerical duties as directed
- Maintains compliance with protocols
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Education:
- Degree: Min of High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Relevant experience: >7 year OR
- Degree: Associate degree
- Relevant experience: >6 years
- None
