Summary

Evaluates specimens for acceptability, liaison for triage with the client services team, supports accessioning team with accessioning responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates triage cases and communicates with the client services team to resolve triage
  • Regularly follows up on pending triage and on hold samples to maintain quick turn around and reduce backlog of on hold samples
  • Active participation in triage process improvements
  • Opens packages, accessions specimens accurately and according to existing protocols, as needed
  • Scans, checks and files paperwork
  • Performs routine and non-routine tasks to carry out the department workflow
  • Ensures that the lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
  • Participates in the orientation and training of the department
  • Performs clerical duties as directed
  • Maintains compliance with protocols
  • Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    • Degree: Min of High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
    • Relevant experience: >7 year OR
  • Degree: Associate degree
  • Relevant experience: >6 years
