Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Controller to assist the CFO in all daily financial operations, including month end close review, analysis and action planning, daily key performance indicator monitoring as well as supply chain and revenue cycle operations oversight. Assists the Market CFO in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared, and maintained in accordance with GAAP. Provides hands-on training, continuous improvement and assistance to department leaders and staff related to market financial operations. Responsible for preparation of the Market’s annual detailed operating budget, routine forecast preparation and adherence to audit requirements for GME and Lab. The Controller has responsibility for Shared Services, Lab and GME entities as well as other market support as appropriate.
What your day will look like:
- Assists the CFO in maintaining a complete and accurate set of financial records on a timely basis.
- Prepares all required reconciliation’s (i.e. Bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, incomes statement accounts) in a timely manner.
- Prepares Book Analysis for management and corporate review.
- Completes quarterly Audit Pack in a timely manner
- Calculates and files Sales Tax returns
- Prepares and mails all A/R other billings to physicians.
- Prepares journal entries as indicated
- Reviews general ledger to ensure appropriateness and completeness of monthly accounting records
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining all construction in progress accounts
- Monitors Fixed Asset accounts and depreciation reconciliation.
- Trains, counsels, disciplines, or commends employees as necessary to achieve ongoing excellent levels of hospital operations.
- Ensures communication of hospital changes, requirements, and news to all department employees.
- Conducts departmental orientation for new employees, consisting of, but not limited to: all safety practices, disaster response, fire response, departmental operations, and policies and procedures.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
- Answers the phone in a professional manner, routes calls appropriately.
- Monitors daily departmental operations, sets priorities, and assigns staff as necessary for the delivery of high quality operations.
- Engages in the work of the department as needed to provide a high quality of operations.
- Functions as a cooperative, active member of the health care team. Understands how the accounting manager’s responsibilities interface with other departments. Readily assists others when needed.
- Responsible for staffing and control of expense in department.
Success Factors:
- Degree in Accounting, Business Administration.
- Minimum of two to five years experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge. Advanced use of Microsoft Office such as Excel. PowerBI would be a plus.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
