Truck Shop Supervisor
Summary: This position is to lead and supervise the service, repair, and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles, company cars, vans, pickup trucks, trailers, shop equipment and tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position will:
- Ensure technicians and supervisors are performing these duties up to industry and the U.S. D.O.T. standards and also within industry time frames.
- Coordinate daily on tasks and work flow.
- Ensure all labor and parts are to be entered into maintenance software
- Oversee technicians to properly complete work orders.
- Assist with the daily breakdowns
- (Back-up) to running PM due report every Monday and Thursday and email to specified groups
- Ensure employees are complying with all set industry safety norms and other quality measures while conducting work processes.
- Need to be able to manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
- Need to have sound understanding of fleet vehicle procedures.
- Provide technical support on repairs for supervised mechanics
- Provide leadership for team
- Manage shop workflow
- Responsible for creating and maintaining workplace safety
- Prepare mechanics for shifts and workload.
- Complete Shop Payroll and submit for approval.
- Perform necessary inspections and repairs to bring vehicles into compliance
- Perform inspections and diagnostic testing, as well as complying with site-specific rules and procedures
- Research best prices for equipment/parts necessary to complete jobs
- Up-to-date with complying with federal, state and local regulations that may affect the assigned shop operation
- Perform whatever else is deemed necessary to complete miscellaneous jobs that are assigned to you by your supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
· High School Diploma required. Experience with Diesel, Air/Hydraulic brakes, Air Condition and DOT regulations. Five to ten years of shop foreman experience.
· Driver’s license required, CDL class “A” preferred.
Language Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and co-workers referencing qualification rules and regulations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
Computer skills
The individual would need skills in vehicle and equipment repair with comprehension of engine theory, steering, transmissions, drive trains, braking systems, HVAC and electrical/electronic repair. Computer skills for diagnosing vehicle/component failures and reprogramming engine/component ecu’s. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of AS400 Innovative Transportation software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. All proprietary programs will be supported by company training.
Mathematical skills
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to complete a ratio percentage and interpret graphs or other measures to analyze information.
Work Environment
Individual should come to work prepared to work in dirty, oily conditions or outside in whatever the daily weather might be.
Physical Demands
This position would require lifting up to 75 lbs. and ability to withstand temporary temperature extremes.
