Join Our Compassionate Team as a Substance Abuse Counselor!
Position Overview:
Are you passionate about making a difference in individuals' lives? We are seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team and help patients through medically-assisted programs while offering strategies to manage opioid addiction. As a counselor, you will conduct both group and individual sessions, guiding patients through crisis management and developing effective coping strategies. Your role will include evaluating patients’ progress during therapy and collaborating with doctors, nurses, and therapists to ensure the best possible outcomes for each patient.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial individual assessments and evaluations to determine service eligibility.
- Collaborate with patients to develop, establish, and review personalized treatment plans.
- Complete Bio-psychosocial assessments.
- Engage families and significant others in the patient’s recovery journey when possible.
- Design and facilitate individual or group teaching sessions for patients.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a social or health services field.
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus.
- Certification required: CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
- Essential: Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward patients.
- Successful completion of a drug screen and criminal background check is required.
