What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at BayMark Health Services?
The Substance abuse counselor will play a key role in assisting patients through evidence-based treatments and providing techniques for managing opioid addiction. They will conduct individual and group sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies. The counselor will also evaluate patients' progress during counseling and collaborate with healthcare professionals to support the patient's overall recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling services, including direct service hours at regular intervals and coordination of all services throughout treatment
- Evaluate the delivery of counseling services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness for all patients
- Conduct individual initial assessments and evaluation interviews to determine service eligibility
- Develop and review treatment plans with each patient
- Complete bio-psychosocial assessments
- Create aftercare and discharge plans
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed in Louisiana as LAC or LRC
- Preferred license: LCSW, LPC, LMFT
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is an asset; must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients
- Able to work collaboratively with compassionate and knowledgeable counseling team members
- Satisfactory background check and drug screen results
