POSITION SUMMARY :
The primary purpose of this position is to is to provide financial analysis of credit union data, assist the Vice President Finance with financial modeling, asset / liability management, the rate setting process, credit union annual budget and other assignments as requested. This is accomplished by extracting and defining relevant information; interpreting data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and / or to project a financial probability. Other duties include developing financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis; using various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases, statistical and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and / or format data and reports; creating and maintaining reports and databases for other departments; and performing other duties as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES :
- Reviews and confirms accuracy of reports produced by supervisees.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic analysis of budget projections, variances and profitability.
- Prepares financial reports to include reviews, analysis and interpretations. Assists with presenting reports to leaders when applicable.
- Assists with the organization's Asset / Liability Management (ALM) by collaborating with business partners to report and analyze liquidity and investment strategies.
- Responsible for the completion and submission of call reports and tax filings and other regulatory reporting.
- Completes various reporting requests from other departments and executive team members.
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the Finance department, which include but are not limited to : assisting with the hiring and staffing, including training and cross-training of assigned personnel; leading and directing the work of others; communicating job expectations; interpreting policies and solving problems related to policy and procedural issues for staff; motivating employees with verbal, written and informal recognition; overseeing departmental projects, scheduling, and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related business. field.
Preferred Education : Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
Required Experience : 3-5 years accounting, finance, or related progressive experience.
Preferred Experience : 1-2 years working in the Public Accounting sector.
Required Knowledge : Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including but not limited to use of complex functions (i.e., VLOOKUP, IF statements, etc.), charts, pivot tables, data manipulation, etc.
