Nature of Work
This position is primarily weighing and sorting material as well as the following:
- Removing objects from the non-ferrous conveyor belt.
- Cleaning of equipment, including trammel, conveyor belts and all the other recycling line equipment.
- Performing custodial work which includes sweeping floors, cleaning picking station enclosure, locker rooms and restrooms.
- Assisting in operating baler for aluminum, metal and corrugated cardboard.
- Assist with warehouse operations, including loading and unloading materials.
- Performing other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
- Use hand tools and power tools to complete various tasks.
- Performing general labor tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skill Required
- Be able to identify materials in the non-ferrous stream so they can be properly removed & processed.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, back evaluation and wear an air purifying respirator.
- Be able to use basic hand tools.
- Be able to communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
- Forklift training is encouraged.
- Be able to enter weights and data into a computer.
Physical Activities/Requirements
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, and perform repetitive motion as needed.
- Previous experience in a labor or warehouse role preferred
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; up to 50 pounds force frequently; and/or 20 pounds force constantly to move objects.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
