Bayside Fire is seeking an Accounting/HR Assistant. This is an entry level position where you will support both the accounting and human resources departments by handling administrative tasks, assist with payroll and financial record-keeping, and maintain employee records, ensuring compliance with policies.
Accounting Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing.
- Assist with payroll processing and tax reporting.
- Prepare invoices and reports.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Audit incoming invoices and other payment requests for appropriate coding and authorizations, routing as appropriate.
HR:
- Assist with employee onboarding.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files.
- Answer employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Assist with recruitment and screening.
- Manage employee benefits administration (excluding 401K).
- Assist with employee relations and events.
- Maintain confidentiality or sensitive HR information.
General Office Duties:
- Provide administrative support, including filing, data entry, and answering phones.
- Maintain office supplies inventory.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to respond to changing priorties.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software preferred.
- Some knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
