BayView Industries of Green Bay is actively looking for a Driver Safety Supervisor to work in our safety department. This position works to ensure we have a qualified team of drivers at the divisions to safety delivery products to our customers. Overall promotes the organization's safe driving programs. Assists in the development, implementation, and management of driver programs, policies, and procedures. Must be aware of federal, state, and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all regulations. The position requires travel to various company sites to conduct audits, investigations, training and inspections.
The responsibilities include:
Driver Qualification
Conduct all employment verifications for CDL, NCDL drivers. Process and handoff to HR for hiring.
- Coordinate New Hire packet completion including safety documents and road test. “Qualify” driver and give green light to hiring division to move forward.
- Manage onboarding tasks including, PSP, FMCSA requirements, and Clearinghouse regs.
- Verify driver meets Fleet management requirements.
- Manage driver license monitoring system (Supervision) and perform duties including the addition of new drivers as well as removing drivers from the system upon termination.
- Setup drug screening duties including randoms, post-accident, and new hire for Drivers.
Driver Program Lead
- Train new drivers/managers on hours of service, FMCSA/DOT rules, TMS system, driver safety, and other driver policies and procedures.
- Monitor hours of service and act as the alert if violations occur.
- Conducts vehicle incident investigations following accidents, near misses, inquiries, and complaints.
- Lead and manage technology projects that affect vehicles (ex. cameras) and other continuous improvement initiatives in the Fleet Department.
- Track passenger vehicle fleet mileage.
- Manage car allowance program.
- Manage driver alerts and coaching follow-ups, including disciplinary actions.
- Develop/initiate programs to reduce accidents and improve vehicle safety.
- Participate in audits/inspections that involve vehicles.
- Manage Driver file maintenance to ensure accuracy and completion level acceptable to FMCSA and broker.
- Manage DOT medical card program.
- Participate with team in developing, improving, maintaining and implementing vehicle safety policies, programs and procedures for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as fleet standards and SOP’s.
- Manage and log safety required inspections of vehicles and related equipment.
- Assist during 3rd party (Customer, DOT, etc.) audits/inspections.
- Track DOT score, Driver Check observation reports, and Driver Medical Card to maintain up to date files.
- Travel to Company facilities across the U.S. and Canada to conduct onsite inspections of vehicles, as well as to conduct training when needed.
- This will require traveling out of state/overnight stays up to 20% of time and the ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
- Ensure compliance with Federal & various State(s) regulations.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in a Safety related job or education in safety or related field, required.
- Experience working in manufacturing/warehouse related safety operations, preferred.
- Experience working in a multi-location company, preferred.
- Valid driver license/driving record that is acceptable by Company’s insurance carrier, required.
- Ability to travel out of state 20% of time.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to respect the confidentiality of information learned through one’s employment.
- Experience with DOT/FMCSA compliance.
