What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Bayview?
Pay: $27.48 - $31.93 DOE. Hourly Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-Time Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm.

The Van Driver drives the Bayview Van or company car to transport Bayview residents according to the monthly Van Calendar developed by the Resident Council Van Committee. The Van Driver transports residents to their destinations in a timely and safe manner. Requires a strong driving skills, a clean driving record, and a valid driver's license. In addition to driving skills and experience, the Van Driver will also need strong communication and customer service skills. Interacting with residents is a major part of the service Bayview provides, and must represent Bayview in a friendly and helpful manner.
TRIP PLANNING & IMPLEMENTATION:
- Coordinates doctor/dentist trips by using the Van Sign Up book, and through communication with Departmental Directors or designees, maintains Van Sign Up book at Reception Desk one month at a time; includes sheets for future months for doctor/dentist visits.
- Arrange to pick up particular residents or groups on a regular schedule. Plans route for day trips and obtain necessary maps; determines time and location of pickup at shopping malls, downtown, etc., and whether passenger will be returning in the van; maintains records (in the office) of suggestions for future trips.
- Establishes the cost of each trip (per resident) based upon mileage, admission fees, ferry fees, and other fees that may be incurred.
- If sack lunches are included in the day trip, arrange for lunches with Food Services Department at least 24 hours in advance.
- Purchases gas for van; turns in all gas receipts to Accounts Payable at the end of each week; maintains mileage log in the vehicle.
- Uses Incident Forms or Front Desk Log to report concerns, issues, and/or observations of residents. Reports any incidents to supervisor as soon as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and Skill
- High School diploma or GED.
- Current Washington State Driver’s License
- Evidence of good driving record and good driving skills
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
- Working knowledge of word processing software.
- Must be patient and respectful with residents, passengers, staff, and others.
