Groundskeeper

- Recently Renovated: Originally designed by Tom Fazio, Bayville now boasts a stunning Andrew Green-renovated links-style golf course that features Pure Eclipse bentgrass greens, state-of-the-art bunker renovations with capillary concrete and G-angle sand, a brand new Rain Bird Smart Pump station, and a total irrigation upgrade scheduled for 2027.
- Focus on Innovation: We are committed to implementing the latest tools and resources available. Bayville, the first club to ever have A4 bentgrass, is again leading the way with Pure Eclipse, one of the emerging "Super Bents." Daily operations utilize such forefront technologies as the USGA GS3 ball and Deacon app, Predict N7 fertility management tool, and Spiio weather sensors; a smart pump station and CirrusPRO irrigation system; the maintenance software Tasktracker, hole location management system ezLocator, and social media platforms Instagram and Facebook. About the Position:
This position will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the golf course, collaborating closely with the Director of Course Operations and the Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to operate and diagnose problems on a wide range of specialty equipment.
- Assist in the calibration and operation of sprayers and spreader equipment.
- Participate in daily course maintenance activities, including mowing, spraying, fertilizing, course setup, and hand watering.
- Develop a strong understanding of turfgrass management practices, including pest identification and control, and correcting nutrient deficiencies.
- Contribute to the upkeep of the irrigation system.
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers as directed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development through local and state association events, including social functions.
- Train and supervise crew members, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Assist in the maintenance of various tools, programs, and platforms, including social media outlets, staff and equipment management software, and data collection sensors.
- Continue to search for the latest innovations available.
Qualifications
- Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including alongside Spanish-speaking employees.
- Proactive, independent thinker, and eager to learn new skills and technologies.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Virginia Pesticide Applicator's License within 90 days of employment.
- Dedication to achieving high standards and a commitment to continuous improvement.
