What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Pre-Construction position at BayWa r.e.?
What You'll Do :
- Establish and execute the Company's Pre-Construction project activities including but not limited to Sales integration strategy, interface with Estimating and Procurement, budget creation, partner with the Design and Engineering team, Pre and Post contract execution activities and site related approvals.
- Lead, manage, train and mentor the team, including project managers, project coordinators, and other personnel to foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Pre-Construction department.
- Collaborate with business development and design teams to review and assess projects, evaluating feasibility, risks, and potential challenges.
- Prepare detailed cost summaries, utilizing project data, current performance, and aggregation of all Pre-Construction projects to ensure profitability at the project level and across the portfolio.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules and timelines, working closely with the project management team to align Pre-Construction activities to ensure project timelines are met or exceeded.
- Prepare and present detailed Pre-Construction reports, including cost breakdowns, value engineering options, and project risks, to the executive team and clients.
- Seeks professional knowledge of industry trends, construction methodologies, and regulatory requirements related PV projects, Battery Storage projects and utility interconnection guidelines.
- Serves as an internal consultant to the VP of Pre-Construction on a broad range of topics including contract negotiations, procedures, scheduling, estimates, productivity, cost control budgets, purchase order agreements, etc.
- Is seen by peers as a leader by providing direction and guidance to sales, Pre-Construction, construction, and service management and their teams through the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies.
- Ensures that staff is actively updating project databases, budgets, schedules and other departments on a timely basis.
- Creates and maintains an active review and exchange of information process with peers and colleagues on topics such as pipeline reporting, timeline metrics and budget reporting on individual projects
- Serves as the department Subject Matter Expert (SME) for customer and project related information to ensure all projects in the Pre-Construction lifecycle are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Responsible for ensuring staff performance, time management, and effective use of human and capital resources in the Pre-Construction Department, including the sourcing of additional resources
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Identify and manage project risks and develop contingency plans as needed
