What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Construction Finisher position at Bazella Works?
We are hiring Cement Masons and Concrete Finishers. The primary responsibilities for this position are to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete by using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs or gutters. Patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Sets the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and aligns them.
· Bolts, nails, aligns and blocks under forms
· Checks the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed
· Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it
· Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge
· Keeps construction site clean and free of debris
· Cleans chipped area using wire brush and feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven
· Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms
· Signal equipment operators to indicate proper equipment positioning
· Apply hardening compounds to cure surface of concrete and waterproof or restore surfaces
· Apply sealants and other protective coatings
· Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
· Chip, scrape and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders or hand tools
· Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools
· Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill
· Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds
· Cut metal components for installation
· Finish Concrete Surfaces
· Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill in holes and cracks with grout or slurry and smooth, using trowel
· Prepare surfaces for finishing, install masonry materials, and apply material to fill gaps in surfaces
· Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door stills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete or pattern or stamp the surface to provide a decorative finish
· Push roller over surfaces to embed chips
· Build wooden molds and clamp molds around area to be repaired using hand tools
· Build and position construction forms or molds
· Mix cement, sand and water to produce concrete, grout, slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper or concrete mixing machine
· Spread roofing paper on surface of foundation, and spread concrete onto roofing paper with trowel to form terrazzo base.
· Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures, install roofing materials
· Polish surface, using polishing or surface machine
· Add muriatic acid to clean surface, and rinse with water
· Pour materials into or on designated designated areas
· Conduct traffic control as needed
· Occasionally drives truck to pick up tools and equipment or on job site
· Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
· Inspects completed work to insure proper installation
· Finish concrete surfaces
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Communicate effectively with fellow workers
· Have knowledge on materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction
· Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
· Ability to use mixers, and grinding equipment
· Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules
