Business Analyst
BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position SummaryBB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our team to provide project delivery business process support services to the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Caribbean District (South Atlantic Division [SAA]) in Puerto Rico which is responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of Civil Works, Military and Interagency and International Support (IIS) Projects throughout the Caribbean region. This role involves analyzing complex business processes, identifying opportunities for operational improvement, and implementing innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will utilize advanced analytical techniques and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness within organizational workflows.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Business Process Analysis
- Conduct in-depth analyses of business operations, workflows, and systems to identify areas of inefficiency or improvement.
- Evaluate and document current business processes, procedures, and metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, identify pain points, and develop actionable insights.
- Data Gathering & Operational Research
- Design and implement data collection strategies to support decision-making processes.
- Analyze large datasets using advanced statistical methods and tools to uncover trends and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform operational research to evaluate alternative strategies and recommend best practices.
- Solution Formulation & Process Design
- Develop innovative solutions to address complex business challenges and improve operational efficiency.
- Create process flow diagrams, models, and other documentation to visualize proposed changes.
- Define business requirements for system enhancements or new tools to support process improvements.
- Implementation & Change Management
- Oversee the implementation of recommended changes, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Provide training and support to teams adopting new processes or systems.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and make adjustments as needed.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports, presentations, and dashboards for leadership and stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams, management, and end-users to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
- Certification in business analysis, such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis) is preferred
- Willingness to travel to project sites in the Caribbean region as required
- Knowledge and Skills
- Strong statistical background with expertise in data analysis and modeling
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma or Agile
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to enhance collaboration with diverse teams in the Caribbean region is preferred
- Software
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros) and other MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with business process management tools and software, such as Visio, Tableau, or Power BI, is a plus
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in business analysis, process optimization, or related roles with a proven track record of analyzing and improving complex business processes in civil, environmental, or construction-related industries is required; experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or similar federal agencies is preferred
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field from an ABET accredited university is required
- Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
- Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
