Job Purpose
BBC Studios is seeking a social media producer to join the Features Team at BBC.com. They will be responsible for supporting multiplatform social content production and strategy, ensuring our brand identity and editorial values are upheld on every account and with every post. The social media producer reports into the social media manager to ensure each account delivers on the agreed social strategy, maximises engaged reach with the account's target audiences, delivers video and multimedia content of the highest creative quality, and drives traffic to BBC features. This requires not only a solid background in social media management and social content production, but also journalistic best practice and engaging storytelling. The ideal candidate for this role must have experience creating editorial vertical video and visual content for social media audiences.

Compensation
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80k to $90k. This range does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.

Core Responsibilities Consist Of
- Collaborate across features, news and video teams, bringing the BBC’s journalism across travel, culture, science, climate and business to life across platforms.
- Produce engaging vertical video and visual content, using video and photo editing software, for a range of social platforms – adapting and optimizing content to best suit each platform and audience.
- Review and respond to analytics to understand performance and pivot accordingly.
- Collaborate with social team colleagues on a content/posting schedule – forward planning content to align with major cultural events, anniversaries, big news moments and flagship editorial projects.
- Maintain a collaborative, team-player mentality, working toward collective goals alongside a very talented group of colleagues.
- Provide planning and idea generation for social media content and campaigns with the guidance of manager and other leadership.
- Remain current in industry trends, digital developments and competitor activity and share new thinking.
- Produce content that is optimized for social platforms and formats, in line with the BBC style guide and tone.
- Opportunity to contribute to BBC.com site video production, appear as on-camera talent, or contribute written articles – flexing new skills and building a varied journalism portfolio alongside your work on social.
- At least 3 years of professional experience specifically in digital production, graphic design, and/or social media for a journalism outlet or media brand.
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a journalist, with a focus on news or features journalism.
- You are a strong communicator and team player, eager to collaborate across a global team of engaged journalists, editors, and video producers.
- You’re a creative thinker, eager to contribute to content brainstorms and develop creative treatments to package existing stories in new ways.
- Experience with social media analytics, with the ability to analyze audience and performance data to better understand performance and pivot accordingly.
- Open and receptive to feedback, eager to learn.
- Understanding of what content formats work on different platforms and ability to work nimbly to achieve success.
- Able to remain current to industry trends and online conversations, providing a social media perspective during team meetings and editorial brainstorms.
- Experience with Microsoft office, the Adobe Creative Suite, various social media posting tools, creative editing tools, and analytic tools to evaluate performance.
