Job Summary
Our state-of-the-art, new dental office will open its doors this coming Spring 2025 in the beautiful town of River Vale, NJ. We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dental Assistant to join our newly established team. The position will be trained over the next few months at our main office in Montvale, NJ, and is planned to transition to the new River Vale office once it opens.
We value your previous dental/medical office experience but will also provide adequate training for the position. The schedule is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM during weekdays, with 1-2 Saturdays per month from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will also have one weekday off, if preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medical coding as needed.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
- Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties when required, including acting as a dental receptionist.
- Utilize four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Support the dentist in prosthodontics procedures, demonstrating knowledge of relevant techniques and materials.
- Stay updated on medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
- Certification or training in dental assisting is preferred but not mandatory.
