What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Finance Vice President position at BBVA?
Summary of Responsibilities: This professional will be responsible for assisting in originating opportunities and executing capital call / subscription line facilities with the goal of building a highly profitable portfolio of transactions as a key contributor to the overall Institutional Client plan. The VP will be tasked with working with both sponsor coverage and local/global risk teams to generate high quality opportunities that fit within the Bank’s approved framework for these facilities. Along with sponsor coverage, the VP will work directly with the local and global team on facilities with asset managers, financial sponsors, and lead banks to promote BBVA’s brand and appetite for significant roles within these transactions.
List Major/Essential Job Duties:
- Work with client coverage and loan syndicate to identify opportunities to participate in capital call facilities
- Facilitate interaction with sponsors to generate direct invites to transactions
- Work closely with risk and coverage to analyze and execute transactions
- Work with the Global Head of Fund Finance and broader team to ensure consistency
- Assist in managing the day to day responsibilities of the US Fund Finance opportunities and portfolio
- Prepare information for and present at New Business Committees and Credit requests
- Provide deal related information and portfolio updates to senior team members
- Work with and aid in the development of junior team members
Level of Complexity and Risk Involved: High degree of specialized knowledge required. Deep understanding of the structural aspects of each deal, market trends, and risks. Work with risk and Portfolio Monitoring to implement best practices in managing and monitoring the portfolio, including facility refinancings.
Scope of Duties:
- Interaction with other teams within the BBVA Group, especially the risk and legal teams
- Transaction underwriting, loan closing, and monitoring
- Maintenance of internal reports and their distribution to the appropriate areas.
- Oral and written presentations for client marketing and internal purposes.
- Client meeting participation and follow-up
- Preparation and monitoring of the loan closing process
- Identification and use of research and tools
- Participation in due diligence and legal meetings
- Coordinate the workflow of the analyst(s) dedicated to the team
Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies:
- Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5 years of experience working in corporate and/or investment banking related to Fund Finance and specifically Capital Calls / Subscription Lines
- Experience at major financial institutions in a similar role – lead role and structuring experience a plus
- Fluent in English a must, Spanish a strong plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines
- Strong understanding of Capital Call structures and trends in the industry
- Proficient in ALL Microsoft Office Tools
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint necessary, Bloomberg a plus
Management Responsibilities: The VP will be supported by junior resources as part of the overall Corporate Lending team of the bank in addition to senior direction from the Global Head

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $170,000 to $210,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
