- Summary of Responsibilities:
The Global Trade Finance - Vice president working for the Global Trade Finance Latam team at BBVA New York will be responsible for the following:
- Marketing, origination, structuring and execution of Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions to BBVA’s Global Corporate Clients in Latin America, which include but are not limited to:
- Letters of Credit (issuance, confirmation, advising of Letters of Credit, Stand-By LCs, Documentary Collections, etc.)
- Receivables/Payables Finance: Supply Chain Finance / Confirming, Receivable Purchase Programs / Factoring / Vendor Factoring, Forfaiting / Structured Forfaiting (discount without recourse of instruments of payment such as LCs, receivables, bills of exchange, promissory notes, etc.)
- Credit Enhanced Short-Term Facilities: Private Insurance, Multilaterals
- Pre-export Finance
- Silent Guarantees
- Structured Trade Finance products as BB Facilities, Prepayments, Inventory Finance.
- Sustainable Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions within the Global Transaction Banking ESG Framework (GTB Sustainability Framework)
- Coordinates with partners across the organization to deliver seamless Trade Finance solutions to clients, including but not limited to the following: Global Corporate Clients, Legal, Compliance, Credit Risk, Operations and Funding Desk.
- Negotiating credit agreements with corporate clients, multilaterals, export credit agencies, other financial institutions and legal advisors
- Provide advisory support to corporate clients and enforce cross-selling opportunities
- Support team leader in strategic planning and segmentation of industries and clients in Latam markets
- Support team leader in forecasting and planning of budgetary objectives and portfolio management
- Participate in training support to other team members, relationship managers and other product units
- List Major/Essential Job Duties:
- Managing a target list of corporate clients in the Latam countries in coordination with the Global Clients group to identify opportunities and offer all type of trade finance products
- Engaging in sales efforts by providing necessary products support and enhance visibility of products to local offices in Latam
- Planning of marketing trips primarily in the Latam market and representing the interests of the bank during client visits and meetings
- Prepare credit proposal for risk approval
- Preparing marketing material including product presentations
- Developing and putting together competitive financing structures that add value to the customers’ needs
- Leading the process of negotiating terms and conditions directly with corporate clients
- Skills, knowledge, abilities/competencies:
Technical Skills:
- An ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of Global Trade Finance experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related field. MBA preferred
- Fluent in English and Spanish and ideally Portuguese (both oral and written)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Global Trade Finance and Working Capital products and business, and the GTB Sustainability Framework
- Advanced credit training and solid analytical financial background in order to understand and determine the risk and profitability of Trade Finance solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience identifying and leveraging internal resources, building and working with cross-bank teams to deliver solutions to clients
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and transactions and executing the transactions in a bank that has a complex multi-country organization
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint in order to deliver high-quality presentations to clients
- Management Responsibilities:
- Assist team leader with the workflow, duties & training of the junior members of the team
- Manage/monitor portfolio to ensure credit quality and profitability standards and budget compliance

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $140,000 to $184,500. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
