Joining our dynamic team, BC Steel Buildings, is currently seeking a experienced and safety-oriented Fitter to contribute to our ongoing success. As a vital part of our workforce, you will be involved in comprehending and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and diagrams, contributing to the fabrication of steel frames, and building components. Proficiency in MIG and Submerged Arc welding (SAW) and fitting is a crucial requirement. Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To:
- Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining metals to meet specifications.
- Preparing work surfaces and metals for safe assembly.
- Accurately interpreting specifications, drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Training apprentices and mentoring recruits in welding techniques.
- Maintaining and inspecting welding equipment and tools regularly.
- Operating cranes and machinery to transport materials to work sites.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Collaborating with supervisors, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements.
- Fitting assemblies to create fabricated metal products for building construction.
- Inspecting machinery setup to ensure quality assemblies.
- Using blueprints to determine joint geometry.
- Tack welding components based on the blueprint.
- Reporting errors to supervisors, leads, and QA when necessary.
- Cleaning tack welds for inspection.
- Performing first article inspections.
- Recording labor after task completion.
- Loading/offloading workstations.
- Executing repetitive tasks as per Weld Procedure Specifications and Manufacturing tolerances.
- Assisting with welding duties as required.
- Communicating with co-workers, supervisors, and leads.
- Operating overhead cranes upon certification.
- Maintaining shop and work site cleanliness.
- Applying common shop math and measurements.
- Reading complex prints and specifications to produce accurate products.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- 2 years of experience in fitting structural steel products and reading blueprints.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and standards.
- Welding certifications beneficial but not required
Requirements
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and work orders
- Proficiency with measuring tools.
- Mathematical and equipment operation skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Commitment to safety.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential within our manufacturing plant to ensure compliance with safety protocols and accurately interpret job orders.
Salary Description
$17.00-18.00hr Starting Pay
Compensation may be adjusted with extensive experience, and a thorough evaluation will be conducted during the interview process.
