Job Title: Assistant Manager – Corporate Financial Accounting
Contract Term: 6 months (Possible Extension)
Location: Bethesda, MD
Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Corporate Financial Accounting to join our team on a 6 month contract basis. This is an onsite position based in Bethesda, MD, supporting the corporate financial accounting department of Marriott International. The role involves managing legal expenses, settlements, and other related financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a CPA certification and a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Accounting & Accruals:
- Accrue legal fees and other related expenses to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Ensure all legal and related expenses are fully and accurately accounted for and reported.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze profit and loss (P&L) reports for litigation, intellectual property (IP), and settlements.
- Conduct detailed reconciliations of litigation and labor reserves to support financial planning and risk management.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with Financial Business Partners (FBPs), Risk Management Teams, and other finance departments to ensure seamless financial processes.
- Partner with teams to establish receivables for settlements with insurance companies or hotels.
- Problem Solving & Adaptability:
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by taking on additional responsibilities and supporting evolving business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive job experience in accounting or finance.
- CPA certification is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and standards, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience working with PeopleSoft financial systems or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Work Environment
- Location: MI Corporate Headquarters, Bethesda, MD.
- Schedule: Onsite, 5 days per week with minimal travel.
Additional Details
- Contract Term: 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
- Pay Rate: Open (to be discussed).
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $30.91 - $32.51 per hour
