Job Description

Job Title : Security Officer

Location : 501 N. 24th St. Phoenix, AZ 85008

Shifts Available :

Day Shift : 6 : 30 AM – 2 : 30 PM (5 days, 8-hour shifts)
Swing Shift : 2 : 00 PM – 10 : 00 PM (5 days, 8-hour shifts)
Night Shift : 9 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM (4 days, 10-hour shifts)

Employment Type : Contract-to-hire (4 months). After 4 months, candidates may transition to a State Security Officer role.

Position Overview :

The Security Officer will play a key role in maintaining safety and security in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, conducting safety inspections, assisting in patient interventions, and providing customer service. Officers will be stationed at various posts or assigned as campus interior rovers.

Key Responsibilities :

Respond to and participate in emergency situations, including codes, drills, and other safety-related incidents.

Conduct building and mall safety inspections to ensure compliance with security protocols.

Assist staff in patient interventions, offering support as needed.

Address and de-escalate patient conflicts using Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) techniques.

Communicate critical information to the on-duty Hospital Security Supervisor and other necessary personnel.

Operate and maintain security equipment, including radios, cameras, and emergency communication tools.

Conduct vehicle and radio maintenance, complete safety inspections, and document findings.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Ability to receive, transmit, and execute written and verbal directives.

Proficiency in verbal de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention.

Knowledge of evacuation procedures, including fire extinguisher use and emergency response.

Strong investigative and report-writing skills.

Experience monitoring and operating security-related equipment.

Ability to provide both verbal and physical intervention in critical patient interactions.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, law enforcement personnel, and visitors.

Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical capability to perform duties such as lifting and carrying as needed.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment.

Required Experience :

At least one year of progressive experience in security and / or behavioral health, preferably in a mental health care facility, hospital, institutional security, or law enforcement setting.

Required Certifications & Licenses :

Valid Arizona Driver’s License (required for rover positions).
