Energy Regulatory Attorney

Job OverviewA prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join its Energy Practice Group at the counsel level. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in federal and state energy regulatory matters, particularly in renewable energy sectors like solar, wind, storage, and energy transition areas such as hydrogen, carbon, electric vehicles, and microgrids. Experience with oil and gas regulatory issues is a plus. This role also involves advising and representing developers, sponsors, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders on complex energy development and finance transactions, including project agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.LocationWashington, DCDutiesAdvise clients on federal and state energy regulatory matters, particularly in renewable energy sectors (solar, wind, storage, hydrogen, electric vehicles)Represent developers, sponsors, lenders, tax equity investors, and others on energy development and finance transactionsNegotiate and draft key project agreements, such as power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and share facility agreementsCounsel clients on equity and debt financing, mergers, acquisitions, and other complex transactions in the energy sectorProvide senior-level oversight on regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with energy regulations and project goalsDevelop and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic advice on regulatory issuesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to manage complex legal projectsRequirements8 years of relevant experience in energy regulatory law, particularly in renewable energy and energy transition sectorsStrong expertise in structuring and negotiating project agreements, including power purchase and interconnection agreementsExperience in advising clients on energy finance, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory complianceAbility to work effectively in complex, dynamic, and fast-paced legal environmentsJuris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law schoolActive membership in the Bar of the relevant jurisdiction(s)Timely admission to the state Bar required upon employmentEducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law schoolCertificationsActive membership in the Bar of the relevant jurisdiction(s)SkillsIn-depth knowledge of energy regulatory laws, particularly in renewable energyStrong negotiation and drafting skills for complex energy-related agreementsClient-focused approach with exceptional communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to lead and manage complex transactions#J-18808-Ljbffr
