Job Overview : A reputable law firm is currently hiring an associate-level attorney to join its Labor & Employment practice group. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled attorney to work on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including traditional labor / union matters, collective bargaining, discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, and other areas affecting the employer-employee relationship.Location : Buffalo, NYDuties : Conduct legal research on a variety of labor and employment matters.Draft handbooks, policies, and position statements.Respond to administrative charges from agencies such as the EEOC and state commissions on human rights.Communicate with clients to gather information necessary for legal proceedings.Draft motions for state and federal court matters.Prepare responses to discovery requests.Draft deposition outlines, prepare exhibits, and assist in witness preparation.Serve as first or second chair in depositions.Assist in preparing for and attending mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.Maintain an annual billable hours requirement of 1,800 hours.Requirements : 2-5 years of experience in labor and employment or litigation law.Admission to the New York State Bar is required.Admission to the Connecticut Bar is preferred or ability to waive in.Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.Active membership in good standing with the state bar.Strong research, writing, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to absorb and process new information quickly.High professional standards, with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication.Cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the organization.Military experience is a plus.Education : Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.Certifications : Admission to the New York State Bar (required).Admission to the Connecticut Bar (preferred, or ability to waive in).Skills : Expertise in labor and employment law.Excellent legal research and writing skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.High organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.Client-focused, with strong professionalism and positive attitude.Benefits : Hybrid remote work opportunity.Comprehensive benefits package (specific details not provided).Equal Opportunity Employer promoting diversity and inclusion.Commitment to a respectful, productive, and harassment-free work environment."This prominent, large, full service, New York law firm is committed to the philosophy that lawyers must be problem solvers.
