A law firm seeks an experienced Real Estate Leasing Counsel to join its team in Washington, DC. The firm represents national and international retailers, as well as landlords, handling retail leasing transactions across the United States. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience with 5-10 years of experience negotiating retail leases, and any additional experience with office, lab, or industrial leasing will be considered a plus. This position offers flexible working arrangements, including part-time and remote options for the right individual.Duties : Lead and manage the negotiation and drafting of retail leases for clients.Provide counsel on all aspects of real estate leasing transactions, including the negotiation of terms, preparation of lease documents, and lease review.Advise clients on legal matters related to retail leasing, including legal risks, landlord-tenant relationships, and property rights.Collaborate with senior partners and other departments to develop legal strategies for clients in the retail leasing sector.Stay up-to-date with changes in real estate law and trends affecting retail leasing.Requirements : A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in retail lease negotiations.Strong experience with lease transactions in other asset classes, such as office, lab, or industrial, is a plus.In-house retail leasing experience is highly valued.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a client-focused approach.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.Approximately 1600 billable hours per year.Education : Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.Certifications : Active membership in the state bar (preferably Washington, DC, or applicable jurisdiction).Skills : Proficiency in negotiating and drafting retail leases.Strong contract analysis and transactional skills.Experience in real estate law, specifically in retail leasing.Ability to manage complex legal issues and transactions with attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise clients effectively.This is a great opportunity for a seasoned real estate attorney to join a prominent firm with a strong national and international presence.
