Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Litigation Associate Attorney for its New York office. This role focuses on complex commercial and real estate litigation, insurance defense, and legal matters related to Directors & Officers (D&O) liability, Employment Practices Liability (EPL), and Condominium/Cooperative (Condo-Co-op) law. The ideal candidate will have substantial courtroom experience and the ability to manage cases from inception through resolution.
Duties:
Handle a diverse caseload of commercial litigation, real estate disputes, and insurance defense matters
Advise condominium and cooperative boards on governance, by-laws, proprietary leases, and enforcement issues
Represent clients in contract disputes, construction defect cases, and access license agreements
Manage litigation processes, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
Develop legal strategies and counsel clients on risk management and dispute resolution
Draft legal documents, pleadings, and briefs
Supervise and mentor junior attorneys
Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and outside counsel to achieve favorable case outcomes
Requirements:
Extensive experience in commercial and real estate litigation, including insurance defense
Strong knowledge of corporate governing documents for condominium and cooperative associations
Proven ability to independently manage cases from initial filing to trial or settlement
Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills
Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities
Ability to provide mentorship and work collaboratively within a team environment
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the state of New York
Skills:
Expertise in legal research, drafting, and litigation strategy
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency with legal software, including ProLaw, iTimekeep, and NetDocs (preferred)
Ability to manage high-volume caseloads and meet billable hour expectations
