Duties/Responsibilities:
- Become proficient in reading Mechanical and Plumbing (M/P) engineering construction documents including project plans and specifications.
- Understand the different engineered M/P building systems between market types; Institutional (Hospitals, Healthcare, and Prisons), Laboratory, Industrial (Manufacturing and Food & Beverage), Educational (Higher education and K-12), Commercial (Business & Retail).
- Identify different HVAC, Piping, and Plumbing systems. Gather information on the approved use of these materials, cost, subcontractor services, and labor.
- Understand the coordination between other construction disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Low Voltage, Fire Protection, and Civil).
- Active construction site job walks to see installation of M/P systems.
- Assist in developing competitive and accurate estimates to support financial targets.
- Help organize and manage centralized cost estimating models to ensure accurate and strategic pricing data.
- Work closely with our Preconstruction/Sales team to understand budgeting strategies and business development opportunities.
- Identify and analyze potential risks associated with project costs.
- Use estimating software to input data and generate reports.
- Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning to develop estimating skills.
- Contact vendors to gather pricing and availability information for parts related to service and repair estimates.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Perform additional tasks assigned.
- Develop and present PowerPoint to present your summer experience to BCH team at the last staff meeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity using Bluebeam Revu 20.
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and be part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), Construction Management, or a related field.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
