Job Description: Family Support Specialist/Program Coordinator
This position is currently funded through June 30, 2026, and is contingent upon annual grant monies provided by the DHHS/DSS division. The Program Coordinator position is responsible for yearly grant renewal.
Salary: $48,559 plus $1,000 sign-on bonus to be distributed over the first two months.

Role
The Family Support Specialist/Program Coordinator is a school-based position that acts as a liaison between families, the school, and the community. The Family Support Specialist/Program Coordinator provides parents with child development information, including age-appropriate expectations, teaches parents positive parenting practices, and assists families in accessing community resources. The Support Specialist/Program Coordinator provides day-to-day management of the FUTuRES project, including all reporting to NCDSS. The Family Support Specialist/Program Coordinator reports directly to the Program Administrator.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To act as the lead resource person on the Triple P and Circle of Parents curriculum.
- To receive referrals to the program and assure follow-up with families through school and home visits.
- To assist families in accessing local resources and coordinating activities.
- To provide parent education and group family activities.
- To organize student and/or parent support groups as necessary.
- To organize natural learning opportunities for children involved in the program.
- To gather data and other information as it relates to the project and maintain input into the project database.
- To maintain accurate and current records on each family.
- To always uphold a high level of professionalism in working with families, school personnel, and community representatives.
- To protect the rights of families by practicing a strict policy of confidentiality.
- To attend professional development courses and workshops.
- To provide day-to-day management of the budget.
- To complete grant reports, renewal contracts, and grant applications.
- To interview and hire project staff.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a four-year degree with at least 2 years of experience with at-risk families.
- At least two years of experience working with at-risk families.
- At least one year of experience with project management.
Special Requirements
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and other unusual hours when necessary.
- Must have access to transportation to conduct home visits and attend events and various meetings as requested.
