Job Overview
The Physical Therapy Aide plays a crucial role in supporting physical therapists and enhancing patient care within a clinical setting. This position involves assisting with various tasks related to patient treatment, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in our outpatient environment. The position does not require licensure or previous training, but a basic knowledge of anatomy is extremely helpful. We are looking to fill a part time and a full time position. May require some travel between our two Santa Maria locations. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Starting wage DOE. It is a hands on job working with a variety of people and we treat all types of ailments and injuries. Those interested in advancing their career and applying to PT or PTA school can be eligible for a scholarship pending certain criteria fulfillment.
Duties
- Assist physical therapists in preparing treatment areas and equipment for patient sessions.
- Help patients with mobility exercises and therapeutic activities under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Document patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Provide compassionate care to patients, particularly in geriatrics, orthopedics, and other specialized areas.
- Engage with patients to encourage participation in their rehabilitation process.
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate within a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology are helpful
- Ability to provide care that is empathetic and supportive, fostering a positive environment for recovery.
- Familiarity with geriatric care principles, as well as orthopedic rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
